Artist's Comments

I promise I'll get a better pic of this to put up...
I think I did well getting rid of my room's crappy lighting in Photoshop, but the pic looks grainy as a result...

Hope the title didn't scare you away. :]

It's been a while since I've done a surreal painting... so I decided to sit down and draw one. As you can tell, this isn't a well-thought out peice. I just drew my hand, cuz it was handy, and- wait. I didn't mean that as a pun, honest. D:
But... uhmm... pretty generic stuff right thur. Graphic shits, splatters and the like, good deal. :thumbsup:

As for the title... it's kinda about how modern creativity and innovation are built upon the basis of our predecessors' ingenuity. It amuses me how old things have to exist in order for things to be considered new, and that there is no exception in art. Even things that seem as though nobody could have possibly concieved them beforehand probably were inspired by something commonplace.
I was thinking about this during a comment chain with Ariel concerning "twosies bear", of all things...

I... really don't have much else to say. ^^;

for some reason... "crisp" was the first word that popped in my mind... of course after all the generic exclamations and expletives.

Very neat, surreal stuff is awesome, yours being no exception.

...
I can find nothing else to say, really... I pretty much say the same crud for all yer pics anyway XD... which is good... i think... maybe...
:iconevoblade:
And the word "toast" just popped in my mind. That could be because I'm hella hungry. D:

Yay! Thanks, I'm glad ya like my surreal stuff. My parents definately don't... :paranoid:

Nuu, it's good. Thanks for commenting! I'm just glad that you comment! It's a rarity.

D'OH. Haha, it's like a bunch of your previous art pieces combined. I like it! xD
The skull is amazing. I'm going to go draw one now, if you don't mind. I've had this intense urge to do so... weird. :\

I honestly don't know what I can say critique-wise, cuz anything I can come up with would be nitpicky. I don't think there's much bad TO say. I mean, usually I only comment on anatanomical (is that a word?) things, but the hand looks nice. Though I do think if you straightened the thumb, it'd be a little long.

And... horfhorf. Twosies bear. I like the idea behind this piece.
:iconpaimonerra:
ANATOMICAL! That's how you spell it!

Sorry... spontaneity.
:iconevoblade:
Lmao! I just noticed that! XD
Drippy fill sections like my plexiglas shadow box, circular thingies from the graffitti pic, stars from my tiger pic, branches like in my Ryuk painting... *lists*
Hehe, nice call! I didn't notice anything until you pointed it out. But it fits the theme so well! I'm building on my past shit. w00t, meaningfulness. :dance:

Hee, the skull is probably drawn all wrong, seeing as I was going by memory... but there's one in my head I think, so I hope it's not too off. That would be ironic. Sort of.

Good, I was using my left hand as a reference, so hopefully it wasn't too out of whack. I never use references... but my art would probably be better if I did. Although I see what you mean about the thumb- I sized it up and you're totally right. o.o;

Ne, thank you! Who knew twosies bear would every be inspirational?

Of course you didn't notice it, cuz you always do that! Adding something from one of your last pieces into your current one... I tend to do it, too, like... with the gears, maybe? =P

I did take anatomy so I should tell you... yes, it is very wrong. But that's why I like it! It's drawn really well, and it's really cool-looking, though it's not right. It's uh... character? Charm? Whatever they call it?

I don't really use references, but I kinda started awhile back and... it actually helps a lot. Even though 1) feels weird, and 2) lazy.

Twosies bear is getting the fame he always deserved...

:iconaurraskitten:

Haha, thanks! The colors would look tons better if I took the pic outside... which is what I plan on doing in the next... day. >.>;
