Randomly at about 10PM tonight I decided that I wanted to paint. It's been a while since I've been in anywhere near an artistic mood, so I ran downstairs, got out all my crap, and proceeded to paint something without linework. All of the initial work was pretty much splattering and stuff like that, but eventually it started to (subconsciously?) take the shape of a skull.
I went with it. Once I determined that I had painted enough, I went in and did some linework afterward. Even after majorly screwing up on the skull's teeth and chin, I think I really like the end result. Since I didn't use any india ink, I got a really colorful end product that doesn't look like something I'd do at all. And all that negative space- wtf? What's come over me? ...as for meaning, I'd be really interested in what you guys have to say about it. But for once, I'm pretty sure what was on my mind while I was painting this had a pretty profound effect on the pic's overall turnout. It's more of an embodiment of my mood than an overall message, like most of my work. -- 9"x12" watercolor paper <4 hours (woah!) watercolor, rollerball pen -- ©=evoblade |

I really quite like this. You did it all freehand, you say? Wow. I'm impressed! I love how it's such a bright, colourful piece, but the skull makes it foreboding and dark. Kind of reminds me of candy skulls from Mexico.

It's so colorful but the skull makes it look totally cool. XD Hah, sorry for the lack of intelligent commenting.
I saw this in my MC and it even looked cool from the thumbnail! :'D
Please have more random artistic moods?

This signature makes you waste your time :3 have a nice day
The skull always seems to pop up in everything you do, but it's never in a dark context. I don't think the skull gives your pieces meaning, I think you give meaning to the skulls in your pieces. Thus, I am immediately prone to finding the connotation of the key looped through said skull. Keys are also symbols. I'm definitely not saying that it's like a "key to death" or something like that, because the colors don't suggest that at all. If it's about anything at all, I think it's about the key to inner happiness and what it takes to sort out what goes on inside our skulls. Sometimes you have to just let it explode out of you until something worthwhile appears; then you do everything you can to savor and capture that moment.
Is that anywhere close? Haha.

Don't quote Dickens in my apartment!
i really wanna say more, but word dont come... exept the word really aparently.
did you have any reason to have a key hanging from it's jaw?
As for the rest of it, you're also scarily close! The main thing I'm dealing with here is my emotion concerning someone special to me.
The colors in my head represent euphoria, and the key laced throughout my jaw represents the inability to articulate my joy to that person. You know, stuttering, etc.
So there ya have it!
