After unlocking all the awesome art galleries in Metroid Prime 2, I decided to try to do some art based on the concepts and complexity seen in the game's enemies, and to try draw better insects.

Here are some diagrams drawn in H6 pencil and white charcoal...

Fig. 1.1- MAIN BODY
This segmented insect is around 5ft. long, and is the larvae to a much bigger specimen in a later pic. It is predatorial, and snares prey (ranging from 2ft to 4ft in size) with a nasty adhesive secretion coming from 4 pores on the head. It then eats it's prey underground, bundling the uneaten portion for later consumption.

Posessing multiple, segmented eyes provides this grub with 160 degrees of periphiral vision. The jaw contains a siphon-like feeding organ to absorb nutrients from prey.

Fig. 1.3- SILLAE
The hair-like structures on the sides of this grub enable it to register it's surroundings when burrowing deep underground, in the dark. They also serve as olfactory sensory organs.
